MS Games
- Boys - 2/3's on weekends (normally Saturdays) 1/3 during the week, we play fellow San Antonio area teams
- Girls - Are almost exclusively weekends around San Antonio. We had few optional Austin games last year as well.
Uniforms
Uniforms will be loaners and the cost to borrow is included in the registration cost but players will get a tshirt and/or pinnie to keep. We loan out the uniforms because using them for 2-3 years helps to lower admin time and registration costs substanially. We do offer additional swag purchasing options.
Cost
If there are any concerns about cost or knowing more about the sport before registering please come out to one of our practices to try out lacrosse before committing. We will never turn away somebody due to cost, all we ask is that you come to talk to us in any manner you see best and discuss it.
What’s included and covered by the registration cost?
Shooting/practice shirt/pinnie, field costs (lining fields), game equipment (goals, balls, cones, etc), ref costs, local league costs, uniform. Everything we must fundraise or get sponsors for (facility upgrades, utility upgrades, etc).
Gear & Equipment
Buying: visit this USA Lacrosse page that discusses the same
Cloest stores to visit in person gear: Play-It-Again NBTX, Dicks House of Sports (Universal City by Ikea), Universal Lax Store (ATX), and most Academy or Dick's in the major shopping in ATX - SATX (ex: The Rim, La Canterra. The Domain). Lots of online options if you use the above locations for sizing and want to shop for online deals.
Renting: We have gear to rent out but it is in short supply so please make sure you let us know during registration if this is something you are interested in. Rental fee is $10 per item with a deposit check ($50 per item) for the full cost of the equipment that we will hold onto until the gear is returned (in good condition) at the end of the season, when the deposit will be returned. For boys, a full set would cost $50 ($250 deposit check), for girls it would be $20 ($100 deposit check), which is in addition to registration costs (but not paid via this link or at this time) and will be collected closer to the beginning of the season since we need to collect the deposit check at the same time. Goalies get rental gear for free (but still need to submit a deposit check)
- Boys equipment (5) = helmet, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, stick
- Girls equipment (2) = goggles, stick
- Everyone must have a mouthpiece (girls and boys, all ages)
- Boys must have a protective cup
Communication
Primary method: SportsYou App
- SportsYou App (team code QK95-NGA4) - this is for the NBYL all group (league level updates and communication)
- This will be the main channel for getting program updates. Shortly before practices start we will start groups for each individual team (coach and team specific messaging). So during the season each family/player should be in -2- groups on the SportsYou App .1st for NBYL-wide communication, 2nd for your specific team communication. The NBYL-wide group is open year-round and provides the continuity for our league from year to year and as families move up in age groups every other year + offseason messages.
Secondary: Social Media
- FB, IG and X
- All of them are: @newbraunfelslax
- Give us a follow!
Tertiary: Email
- This is rarely used during the season and definitely not for short notice changes (ex: weather)
What can my player do to get ready for the season?
- Play wall ball or catch with a parent/friend
- Follow USA Lacrosse for videos and resources for lacrosse drills
- Third party options:
- Watch past NCAA (men's and women's, D1-D3) games on ESPN+ and YouTube
- POWLAX (basics and advanced): https://www.youtube.com/powlax
- JM3 Lacrosse (moderate-advanced): https://www.youtube.com/@jm3sports
Coaches Needed (Girls & Boys, all ages)
If you are interested in being a coach (asst or head) please email us at newbraunfelslax@gmail.com to let us know. We offer discount rates for the training and costs. No lacrosse or coaching experience required. We will
cover your expenses-membership to get trained and provide a discount for your child to register-play with us. Please email to acknowledge the coaching expectations document and receive a discount code.
Referees Needed (Girls & Boys, all ages)
If you are interested, please email us at newbraunfelslax@gmail.com. Our area (San Antonio region) is extremely short on officials for both girls and boys lacrosse at all age levels. There are options to get you involved, whether you have no ref experience, other sport ref experience, or lots of lacrosse ref experience. Refs are paid very well in our area and we need them to help make our games a reality.
If you have additional questions please email us any time at NewBraunfelsLax@gmail.com, or DM us on one of our social media accounts. Register ASAP so we can properly schedule out the last remaining details of our Spring 2026 season. Lastly, we are always looking for new players (girls and boys), so please tell a friend about us!
