OBX Lacrosse
Join one of the fastest growing youth sports in the country. OBX Lacrosse offers modified lacrosse to 1st and 2nd graders at Dare County Parks and Recreation in Kill Devil Hills. Every fall we have a co-ed season teaching the basic fundamentals in a form of lacrosse we call "soft stick". We meet twice a week for an hour of skills and games.
SOFT STICK LACROSSE (co-ed)
Age: 1st and 2nd graders
Cost: $30 per child, plus USA Lacrosse membership. All players get a reversible jersey.
Where: Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills
Start/End Dates: Sept. 16 to Oct. 29
Time: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Limited to 25 participants.
Instructor: John Van Lunen
Details: This co-ed program will introduce 1st and 2nd graders to a non-contact version of lacrosse. Basic skills of catching, passing, cradling and scooping will be taught in an environment of fun drills and small-sided games.
Coach
John Van Lunen
John Van Lunen is the current head coach for the First Flight High School boys program and has over 100 wins. He has over 30 years combined experience coaching, officiating, and playing. In addition, he's a former physical education teacher. His philosophy is to make learning fun through hands on experience and games.
