BALLARD HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS LACROSSE (WA)
About Us
Our Program
The Ballard High School Girls Lacrosse Club is a NO-CUT athletic opportunity for athletes attending BHS or living in the BHS reference area if their school does not have a women’s lacrosse team. The program fields a Varsity and a JV team and is organized as an ASB Club at Ballard. The non-school sponsored club is 100% funded by registration, fundraising, and run by parent volunteers.
The BHS Girls Lacrosse Club espouses the basic values of sportsmanship, respect and healthy competition and prioritizes the growth and development of its players. Prior lacrosse experience is not required.
The Ballard Girls’ Lacrosse Club (BGLC) plays in the Metro Conference of the Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association of high school lacrosse teams (www.wslax.org).

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the fees for the season?
$500 registration per player plus a $50 refundable uniform fee. Scholarships are available (see below for details). This program does not receive any financial support from Ballard High School or the school district. Instead, the club is funded by player fees, proceeds from the BHS Foundation’s Annual golf classic fundraiser, and direct donations. The spring 2026 season will cost approximately $925 per player to fund coaching stipends, league fees, and field permits.
2. Is there an early bird registration option?
No, but we strongly encourage you to register as early as possible - it makes season preparation much more efficient.
3. What is the refund policy?
► Full refunds are available until 01/30.
► ONLY a 50% refund 02/23.
► NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED STARTING 02/28.
4. Do players need to be members of USA Lacrosse?
Yes. Players must also join or renew a US Lacrosse (www.uslacrosse.org) membership; the cost is $35.00 for one year—this provides our club’s liability and player insurance. We cannot waive or fund this fee. This is a mandatory requirement. The fees help pay for game officials, coaching costs, league dues, uniforms and team equipment. There will be no refunds for this fee based on a player’s team assignment.
5. What is the scholarship policy?
Please note that NO ONE will be turned away for inability to pay fees, acquire equipment, etc. Please contact Program Chair Amanda McGarty regarding scholarships.
6. What equipment do players need?
Players will need to provide running shoes, cleats, colored mouth guards, a lacrosse stick and protective eyewear. The club has a limited number of loaner sticks and other equipment that can be checked out for new players. The team uniform will consist of a jersey, kilt (skirt) and socks. Use of the team uniform is included in the registration fees. At the end of the season the jerseys and kilts will be collected and laundered for use the following year. If you need assistance with equipment (sticks, goggles, and mouthguards) please contact Amanda McGarty.
7. Interested in coaching or volunteering?
As a club sport we are solely responsible for all the things that we do. We set up games, practices, events, transportation, fundraisers, and so much more. We need:
► Coaches
► Board members
► Scorekeepers and timers
► Field painters/set up helpers

Please email us if you want to support our athletes!
