Select Program

What is Select?
The Select Program is an opportunity for middle school players with demonstrated ability to participate in a competitive level of play. Select is only during the Spring season, anyone who plays in Fall will play Rec.

Tryouts
Tryouts typically happen in November. Dates and times will be announced via email and social media.

If your player tries out and makes the team, then Select lacrosse (both practices and games) must be their primary spring sport/activity. Please ensure your player can make this commitment before trying out (we understand there may be some overlap with the end of winter season and the beginning of select season).

Who can be on Select?

  • Grades 6-8 (boys); Grades 5-8 (girls)
  • Must live in Pope High School district. Exceptions (must contact applicable commissioner before registering) include:
    • Feeder program does not have a Select team.
    • Player is enrolled in a feeder school via school choice or a parent is a teacher in Pope district and has player enrolled.
    • Player is the child of a coach in the progam.

The Board will not require younger players to play up, if the preference of the player and their family is to play on the Junior team.
