Interested in Coaching?
Whether it's your first time coaching and picking up a lacrosse stick or it's been years since you played lacrosse, there is nothing more rewarding than coaching lacrosse to the youth in your community. Coaching is a great way to reconnect with your passion for sports, build leadership skills, and spend quality time with your child on the lacrosse field. Coaching allows you to positively impact the youth right here in SYC by teaching them the love of the game and allowing kids to have a lifelong path to wellness by participating in sports. Warrior Lacrosse Club wouldn't be such a successful lacrosse program without the great coaches who volunteer their time each spring.
Warrior Lacrosse Club is dedicated to making sure all of our coaches positively conduct their selves to our youth. All coaches are required to have a background check, volunteer clearances through the state of Pennsylvania, and a USA Lacrosse bronze-level coaching certification. We also require all coaches to sign the WLC Code of Conduct each season. All boy's team coaches will be required to sign the YCLA Code of Conduct each season.
Pennsylvania State law requires volunteers who work with children to obtain three clearances: Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Background Check. These are the same clearances required by the school district to volunteer and other youth sports programs. These clearances are valid for 60 months. Click here to find information on how to apply for these clearances.
Warrior Lacrosse Club is a member of USA Lacrosse. USA Lacrosse requires that all coaches and any volunteer who will be on the lacrosse field have a current USA Lacrosse Coaching Membership (Involvement Type: Coach; Program Affiliation: Warrior Lacrosse Club). The USA Lacrosse coaching membership requires members to complete a background screening through NCSI and complete the online abuse prevention training. The background screening and online abuse prevention course are both provided by USA Lacrosse for coach members at no additional charge. Membership is an annual requirement while the background screen and online abuse prevention training are required to be updated every two years. USA Lacrosse is also requiring all coaches to complete the bronze-level coaching certification. Bronze Certification provides the training all coaches need to create a safe and protected environment and experience so the players can focus on having fun and learning the game. Click here for instructions on how to access the bronze-level certification requirements. The Bronze Certification Requirements include:
- Valid Membership
- Background Check
- Abuse Prevention Course
- Cardiac Care Course
- Concussion Course
- Cultural Competency Course
- Annual Rules Test
The USA Lacrosse coaching membership fee is $60 a year, this fee is reimbursed by Warrior Lacrosse Club each spring for all coaches and assistant coaches. Fees will be reimbursed once all clearances have been received and all USA Lacrosse membership requirements have been met. If you have questions regarding your clearances or your USA Lacrosse Membership please reach out to Rebecca Smith at WLCclearances@gmail.com
